Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 Thoughts

First of all, Chicago has an amazing skyline, and secondly, Reggie Miller is really annoying sometimes.

Anyway, the news of Chicago’s front line demise was greatly exaggerated, man, they are probably the only team in the league that has four starting caliber players in their frontcourt, Taj Gibson can basically guard anyone in this league, and he was amazing on the defensive end guarding LeBron James and Chris Bosh in this game. I only managed to watch the second half of this game but from what I’ve seen, but in the second half, Chicago’s frontline basically just shredded Miami to pieces, multiple offensive boards and second chance points, challenging shots without fouling, the Bulls just wanted it more than the Heat and it showed in the box score. Taj Gibson had a career of highlights in this game and Omer Asik just makes me wonder why isn’t he getting more minutes.

Miami just have to get more from their bench and basically from anyone not the big three, because when Chris Bosh is leading your team is scoring, that’s bad news. Chicago just ran and chased Dwyane Wade and James all game round, and seeing Wade being that tired after the third quarter, that’s a first. And 19 points from anyone not the big three, wow. Bulls defense just outworked Miami’s offense, and if they were going to get anything from this series, they have to figure out a way to attack the Bulls zone defense and basically just hit some outside shots for starts.

Luol Deng was great in this game, shutting down James and guiding him towards the Chicago bigs. Have I mentioned his scoring yet? Deng is the X-Factor in this series and if he gets off to good games, Chicago’s got a great chance of winning this series. Basically the Bulls were just perfect in this game, being awesome on defense to offense, there’s more ball movement around, better spacing on offense, closing in and clamping down on the defensive end. They knew Miami would focus on Derrick Rose and they reacted by taking the ball away from Rose and creating plays for other players on this team, and they delivered, it will be interesting to see how Miami reacts to this in game 2. If the Bulls bench fails to deliver in game 2, it could be a real slug fest.

The only knock on the Bulls was that Derrick Rose took too many of them long jumpers that missed their mark, but then again, you can’t really argue with 10 threes made when Miami only had 3 during the game. It’s definitely surprising to see Chicago run off with the game in the second half, because I thought it would be really close and also because both teams had plenty amount of rest coming in, so getting to see a lethargic Heat in this game is surprising.

I pretty much like the Taj Gibson nicknames of Tajmanian Devil and Tajmic Bomb in the top 10.

Looking forward to game 2 nonetheless, and I know for sure this time the Heat wouldn’t go down that easily without a fight.

I agree that Reggie Miller can be annoying. I was really impressed by the Bulls and disappointed in the Heat, but it was expected. It’s going to be a short series for the Heat if they don’t pick things up.

Looking forward to more Taj Gibson nicknames!
